Just recently I got back from my second cycling holiday in France.
I spent 1 week in the town of Saint Jean de Maurine which is at the foot of many famous climbs in the alps.
I rode up the beautiful Col de la Madeline, this was one of the hardest climbs that I've ever done, and 2 years before that I had ridden up the Col de Tourmalet.
While in the alps we HAD to go and conquer the famous Alpe d'Huez, the 21 switch backs were a killer, but luckily I had just enough energy to get to the top of the 14km climb.
It took me 1hr 2mins, I was happy yet disappointed at the same time, I really wanted to go under 1hr, but seeing that I beat everyone else that I was riding with by at least 5mins (one of them by 20mins) I decided that my 1hr.2mins was a fair achievement.
Myself, I'm Australian, I've ridden all of the Australian Alps and these are still stunning climbs. So far in my life I've experienced riding in the Alps of France and Italy and the Pyrenees. I will try to find more people to try and add to my blog and we might be able to come up with the top 10 places in the world to ride!
Also, I'm looking at buying some Carbon Road Bike wheels, I'm currently looking at Zipp 404's and SRAM S60's. If anyone has heard and good or bad things about these wheels please let me know!
The blogging will continue!
